EURO 2024 Bid Information Meeting was held at the administrative center of TFF in Beykoz-Riva, Turkey with the participation of Youth and Sports Minister Akif Çağatay Kılıç and Turkish Football Federation President Yıldırım Demirören. In the meeting; Youth and Sports Minister Akif Çağatay Kılıç and Turkish Football Federation President Yıldırım Demirören has confirmed that Turkey will bid to host EURO 2024.
In the meeting held in Orhan Saka Hall, General Director of Sports Mehmet Baykan, Undersecretary of Youth and Sports Faruk Özçelik, Turkish Football Federation Executive Board members and Football Director of Turkey Fatih Terim took part.
TFF President Demirören: ''We deserve to be the host of EURO 2024''
In his speech TFF President Yıldırım Demirören said: ''Today we came together for a good job on behalf of Turkish football. We are together for EURO 2014 bid, which we have already applied for three times today, for the fourth time. The deadline for candicacy application is March 3, 2017 which we will apply on March 2, 2017. Turkey is the only country with 32 stadium investment in Europe and even in the world. Unfortunately, we couldn't host the championship in the past. Which we also lost the bid 1 vote difference as well. But; this time we believe that we deserve to be the host of EURO 2024. I would like to thank you for your support, Mr. Sports Minister, Mr. Prime Minister, and of course Mr. President of Turkish Republic. I believe we will all work together in this path.''
Youth and Sports Minister Kılıç: ''We're making an important announcement of new beginning''
In his speech Youth and Sports Minister Akif Çağatay Kılıç said: ''As Mr. Demirören says, we are making an important announcement and decision of new beginning. We have come to this path with the support of the political will at the top of our country. TFF will make the application and the process will begin. I can express it clearly, Turkey has made a great leap in stadiums with the instructions of our President and Prime Minister. When we look at the stadiums that are currently built in Turkey, there is only one country is rivaling us, USA and their scale is obvious. We're number one at Europe in this issue. This is the most beautiful indicator of where we came from in terms of infrastructure. I hope that the distance we will receive will be very different with the positive result of our candidacy.
