The wise Sufi Rumi, both during his life and after his death, is known as a symbol of tolerance throughout the world. Today Rumi's tomb is the most visited historical building in Turkey, after the Topkapı Palace in İstanbul. One of the world’s most important excavation sites is in Konya. Çatalhöyük is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s located south-east of the city of Konya in the Küçükköy village. Çatalhöyük existed around 7500–5700 B.C., really flourished around 7000 B.C. Konya has significant works of Seljuk and Ottoman architecture. Konya’s Selimiye Mosque, İnci Minaret Medrese, and Alaeddin Mosque are all very striking and prominent monuments from the Ottoman and Seljuk periods. Another interesting attraction in Konya is the Tropical Butterflies Park, which opened in July 2015. Being the first of its kind in Turkey, the Park provides shelter to 6,000 butterflies of 15 different species, as well as 20,000 tropical plants. The new Konya stadium, which opened in 2014, meets all requirements of UEFA and is a part of an ensemble with a brand new multi-sports hall, an athletic stadium, a velodrome and different sports areas.
