Speaking after the World Cup qualifying match against Belgium, Turkey coach Fatih Terim thanked his players for their positive football in the second half and criticized Belgium's "anti-football" style.

"We intensified our attacks and caught many opportunities to score in the second half. Truly, we had victory on our minds and hearts but we couldn't reach it. Qualifying for World Cup is a long campaign and sometimes there could be setbacks on the road. You can be sure that we have the power to cope with problems and comfort losses" Terim said.

Terim underlined he would never give up on playing positive football even if they lose and concluded: "If Belgium feels extremely happy when they hold us to a 1-1 draw, then nobody has to feel said. When we fell 1-0 behind, that changed our plans and the premature injury of Tuncay Şanlı was another unexpected thing. Compared to our previous matches, obviously we didn't play good enough, especially in the second half. I have to say that the opposition made solid defending"

Terim was not the only one to speak about the game. Players were unhappy that they couldn't reach their second victory.

"Belgium had very few chances to score during the game. They converted one of these and that caused us dearly. Certainly, they have arrived here for one point. They tried to slow down the pace of the game after scoring. On the other hand, if you can't beat your opponent, you shouldn't be beaten. We did that. A point and a goal would surely have an effect on the formation of the group" said Galatasaray midfielder Mehmet Topal.

Defender Servet Çetin is sure that two dropped points can be recovered. "We have to be more careful. That was an unexpected result but still we have the opportunity to top the group" he said.

Denizlispor left-back Çağlar Birinci who made his senior debut for Turkey with Belgium match, said he couldn't hide his excitement after the start of the match but later, he controlled it. "When I saw my name in the starting eleven, I was surprised, but I think I didn't let anybody down who showed faith in me" he said.
