Hamit Altıntop, Turkish international, won the Puskas Award 2010 at 'FIFA Ballon d'Or Gala' which was held in FIFA Headquarters, Zurich.

Hamit Altıntop won the 'most beautiful goal of the year' for his wonder volley from outside of the penalty area in the UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying match between Kazakhstan and Turkey played in Astana on 3 September 2010. Altintop received the FIFA Puskás Award trophy at the FIFA Ballon d'Or Gala, Zurich Kongresshaus on 10 January 2010 from Kazakhstan National Team goalkeeper Andrey Sidelnikov.
Altintop grabbed the award between Matthew Burrows, Linus Hallenius, Lionel Messi, Samir Nasri, Neymar, Arjen Robben, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Kumi Yokoyama.

On the other hand; Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona and Argentina has won the FIFA Ballon D'Or award for the best player of 2010 while, Marta Vieira da Silva gained his 4th consecutive FIFA Ballon D'Or Award for Women's. At the FIFA Ballon D'Or Gala, Jose Mourinho took the 'Coach of the Year' award between Pep Guardiola, Vicente Del Bosque.

Furthermore; FIFA / FIFPro World XI (Best Eleven of the Year) was determined as: Casillas, Maicon, Puyol, Lucio, Pique, Xavi, Iniesta, Sneijder, Ronaldo, Messi, David Villa
